(iv)   Transport allowances have always been paid to Obas who attended Government organized ceremonies to defray the cost of fueling their vehicles;
(v)    In a bid to prevent socio-communal and Chieftaincy crises in the State 20 Chieftaincy crises have been so far settled across the 20 Local Governments areas through the intervention of the Ministry.
(vi)   More so, the present Administration since inception had installed 49 Obas across the 20 Local Governments in the State.
(vii)   In addition, 45 Obas were upgraded from the status of Part II (Recognised) Oba to First Class Oba while 59 Coronet (Part III) Obas were upgraded to Part II (Recognised) and recently, two communities were granted Coronet Obas while three (3) Baales were upgraded to the status    of Part II (Recognised) Oba;

NOTE:      As at 29th May, 2003, the Administration met 169 Obas in position.  After the upgrading exercise, the State now boasts of 174 Traditional Rulers categorized as follows:
        (i)     Paramount Rulers                                 4
        (ii)    First Class Obas                                        55
        (iii)   Part II Obas                                     113
        (iv)   Coronet Obas                                       2
                                                                        174
(viii)  In recognition of the much cherished and valuable role of the Ogun State Council of Obas in governance   and the need to further tap from the wide experience of our revered Monarchs, the membership of Ogun State Council of Obas was enlarged from 40 to 64 on 19th August, 2004 comprising of 10 permanent and 6 rotational members from each of the four Traditional Council in the State i.e. Egba, Ijebu, Remo and Yewa while the tenure of the Council was reduced from 5 to 3 years to allow      more participation of many Obas across the State. The membership was further enlarged in Year 2009 with the appointment of additional three (3) Permanent members from each of the four Traditional Councils;
(x)    In order to provide a conducive environment where our Obas could interact in the performance of their traditional role, a Complex named “Obas Complex” was constructed and commissioned on February, 2006 to serve as venue of meetings of Ogun State Council of Obas.  The said     Complex also serves as the offices of the four Paramount Rulers and the Officials of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; and
(xi)   However with further increase in membership of the Council, the State Government has commenced the construction of a befitting Ultra-Modern Hall at the back of the Complex to serve as new venue of meeting of the Council and for holding events associated with traditional institution.  The Complex is expected to accommodate at least 150 Traditional Rulers at a time. The foregoing are some of the welfare packages put in place for the Obas in the State to promote the dignity of traditional institutions in the State.

4.0       CONCLUSION
In conclusion, there is no doubt that whatever achievements the Ministry has been able to attain within so short a time since its creation in 2005, it has been solely due to the encouragement and prompt attention received from the Administration of Otunba Gbenga Daniel.  Being its brainchild, the Administration has never starved the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs of support.To get full understanding of this article,check for part one of this article here and part 2 here).So follow the instructions bellow for you not to miss my next updates.
